Sherlock is a very popular crime drama television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. It has been created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss for the BBC and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson.

Until now ten episodes have been produced, and the first episode of the fourth series will air on the 1st of January 2017.

The series is immensely popular and has received very positive reviews. Sherlock has been nominated for numerous awards including: BAFTAs, Emmys, and a Golden Globe, winning several awards across a variety of categories.

Martin Freeman is an English actor

Martin John Christopher Freeman (born 8 September 1971) became known for portraying Tim Canterbury in the original UK version of sitcom mockumentary The Office. These days he is known for playing Dr. John Watson opposite Benedict Cumberbatch‘ Sherlock in hugely popular British crime drama Sherlock. He also played Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jacksons The Hobbit film trilogy, and Lester Nygaard in the dark comedy-crime drama TV series Fargo.

Other notable film roles include the romantic comedy Love Actually (2003) and the comic science fiction film The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005).
