What is geocaching?

Geocaching is search with help from a GPS

Geocaching is actually the ancient treasure hunting, but here you go out of the GPS coordinates to find the treasure. It seems to have been invented in 2000 by Dave Ulmer, who had put a bucket of goodies in the forest. He mentioned the coordinates on a website about satellite navigation and invited people to search for the bucket. There was also the idea of getting something out of the bucket and stopping something new (and updating the log). After that it went fast and there are many geocaches hiding on the whole world. With websites to find the data of the geocache or even complete routes along different geocaches. The real fanatic has its own GPS device, but for the people who want to try it, it is also possible to use your mobile phone (often not as accurate as a real GPS) or you can rent a GPS at the local tourist office. The principle has not changed: you are looking for the treasure (geocache) and if you have found it, you will update the log and submit a new treasure. Meanwhile there are geocaches for the novice but also for the expert, where the treasure for the expert is often small, and which for the beginner is larger and easier to find. Read More

What is Eline?

We are a bicycle navigation system

The Eline is a navigation tool that you can easily place on the handlebars of your bike. The eline helps to find the way in an unknown city, but does not do this by navigating: it only shows what direction you should be on. So it is more of a compass and not a navigation system. So you don't have to expect to drive the fastest route, but you'll find yourself in all sorts of places in the city, you decide on your own route and you can see which way you should go. By using e-paper the eline will not use much power. The Eline is available from March 2017. Read More

What does GPS mean?

GPS means Global positioning System

GPS is developed by the U.S. Army. It is a system of satellites in permanent orbits around the Earth. Every spot on Earth always sees at least 3 satellites, which are also needed to be able to do a positioning. This is done by means of radio waves and the fact that the position of the satellites is known. Read More
