What does IoT mean?

IOT means Internet Of Things

With IOT it is about linking devices (and people) to the Internet. The IOT goes so far that all imaginable devices are connected to the Internet at any given time. There are more and more devices connected, and it is expected that 2013 is the year that IOT really breaks through (it has been thought since 1999 that this is going to happen anyway…). The Things ensure a reduction in wastage: wasting time, or attention, or energy, money, etc. The most tangible for most people is the smartphone, and device that is always connected, another device that also always emerges from publications about IOT is the intelligent refrigerator: the fridge that knows when something is on, and immediately an order for You do. Since 2008, the number of devices connected to the Internet is already greater than the number of people in the world, this will only increase in the coming years. 12 devices per person are expected to be connected in 10 years. What is Chromecast?

Chromecast is a HDMI stick

The Chromecast is a product of Google, and is a small dongle that needs to be plugged into an HDMI socket on your television. Then you can use your tablet, smartphone or laptop to determine what is being played on the television. The Chromecast seems to be a USB stick (it also has a USB connection to power the device) and connects to a network via WiFi. It is not the case that the content of your phone is streamed to the television. The device has been available since the end of July 2013 (in the Netherlands only from October) and costs 35 to 40 euro. The primary goal of the Chromecast is to play video, music and photos. Meanwhile, there is also a Chromecast-Ultra available that can be used with 4k quality images. For more information please check out Product guide Chromecast. Read More

What does BYOD mean?

BYOD means Bring Your Own Device

You used to have better stuff (computers, phones) than at home, since gadgets are so popular and accessible that it is increasingly common for people to have better (newer) stuff at home than at work. This is why BYOD is starting to become popular, and there are already companies that make a policy of making people take their own belongings. If someone with his own stuff works better or faster, then a boss often has no problems with people taking their own stuff, however it is often difficult to compensate financially for the electronics that people take with them. What does LBS mean

LBS means Location Based Services

With LBS, it is about services that provide information about a user's current location. Often it is a smartphone with GPS that transmits its location (whether or not at the user's request), but often it also goes through the position of the GSM Zend Master. The idea is that a user himself indicates where he is (see also Foursquare) and thus gets information that is of interest to him at that time. Especially marketing people see a lot of added value here because they can try to get customers into the store.
