What is white Thursday?

White Thursday is Thursday direct for Good Friday

From the church stands white for good, joyful and sacred. All indications fit very well with this day. After all, it is the day when Jesus gave his followers the Eucharist and the priesthood. Also on white Thursday the crucifix is covered with a white cloth, in preparation for Good Friday. With white Thursday celebration of the three days of Easter begins (white Thursday, Good Friday and quiet Saturday). Also on this day the Pope pronounces the "Urbi et orb", penitents are again admitted to the church and prisoners receive remission of their punishment. From this moment on, the church's bells will remain silent until Easter Sunday.
