UvW means union of water boards
The governance of a water board resembles the board of a municipality, with a daily administration (this is sometimes referred to as a college of Dike and local councils) and a president who is often called a dike or a backhoe. In The Netherlands, there are 26 water boards with more than 10,000 employees and the main task of the management of aquatic systems. There is a need for a different solution for each region, but in general money that the water boards provide for safe dikes and sufficient clean waters. Every day the water is busy controlling the amount of surface water. Because the Netherlands is in a river delta, it is immediately noticeable when the water level rises or falls. More information about the tasks of the UvW can be found on the website.
