Mayonnaise is one of Origin French sauce: It is a cold, white sauce with as base components oil and egg yolks. Mayonnaise is a protected product designation according to the Dutch Commodities Act: the product can only be called mayonnaise if there is at least 70% oil in it. Mayonnaise is often eaten with fried products or as a basis for another sauce. The Dutch mayonnaise is generally sweeter than French or Belgian mayonnaise (there is more use of mustard and some more vinegar or lemon).
