What does BLM mean?

BLM stands for Black Lives Matter, which is a social justice movement that seeks to address systemic racism and police brutality against Black people in the United States and around the world. The movement was founded in 2013 after the acquittal of George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Black teenager, in Florida. The BLM movement has since become a global network of activists and organizations that advocate for Black rights and seek to challenge and dismantle systemic racism in all its forms. The movement gained renewed momentum in 2020 in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, a Black man, by a Minneapolis police officer, which sparked nationwide protests and a global conversation about racial inequality.
