What is Kanban?
Kanban is a software development method
Kanban focuses on releasing software early and often and is designed to help teams work together more effectively. People working with Kanban often use a board where all the work is visualised by cards. Each card contains one task that has to be done. Kanban is based on 3 basic principles:
- Visualize what you do today: seeing all the tasks in context of each other is very informative
- Limit the amount of work in progress: this helps teams to not commit to too much work at once
- Enhance the flow: when something is finished, the next highest thing from the backlog will be picked up to do next
Kanban promotes continuous collaboration in the team and supports active and ongoing learning and improving by creating the best possible workflow for the team.
