Leap Day is February 29th
A leap day occurs once every four years (there are a few exceptions). The reason for this is that our calendar is based on the time it takes the earth to go around the sun. A solar year counts 365.2421875 days, which is about 365 and a quarter day. To compensate for the loss of this quarter day, the Leap Day/leap year has been introduced. In some cultures, the day has become a special moment, for example, in Norway the day when women's men are allowed to make a marriage search. In The Netherlands This day is also a popular bruiloftsdag. The NIBUD has calculated that for a family this extra day costs about 57 euros.
