ETA means Euskadi Ta Askatasuna
The Basque secessionist movement ETA is a terrorist organization that wants to establish an independent socialist Basque state (the political branch is Batasuna). ETA is in a state of war of all the police and army units present in the Basque Country. Like the IRA, warnings are usually given when an attack is committed. ETA has wrapped a snake around an axe as a recognizable symbol. The Basque Country consists of 7 provinces, 4 of which are in Spain and 3 in France.
