What is a hostel?

A hostel is a hotel for youngsters

Originally a hostel is a youth hostel where you can spend the night cheaply, specifically intended for students and youngsters. In this time almost no distinction is made in ages and most hostels accept guests from young to old but hostels are still popular with backpackers. A hostel usually has several dorm rooms where you can have bunk beds or single beds, these dorms are also known as ' dorm '. Also the bathroom and the toilet share you with other people, this is also the reason that it is often cheap. Another advantage is that you can easily meet new people. Dutch prices of hostels are around 20 euro per person per night, in other countries this can be lower or higher. A hostel often gives a house-of-house feeling because there is a kitchen, a room with TV, and shared sleeping rooms.
