A plofkip is a broiler
The broiler chickens are crammeded in large stables and raised in such a way that they are ripe for slaughter in 42 days. However, this fast way of growing is not good for the chicken: it often causes heart problems. In addition, the rapid growth causes them to have a lack of calcium with the risk that their legs can no longer carry the weight and pocket them through their legs. In The 6 weeks that this broiler is alive it has now become more than kilos heavy. The Awake Animal Foundation has started a campaign in which they write well-known brands and ask to replace the plofkip with a chicken with at least 1 star of the better life characteristic of the animal protection.
