ATS means Applicant Tracking System
An ATS (also called Applicant Tracking System) is a system by which applicants are followed throughout the procedure (from submitting the CV to the final assumption). Common and used functions of an ATS are: rejecting and inviting applicants, sending communications, searching the database for suitable candidates. In the current labour market there is often a lot of attention for a vacancy, so many applications come in. An ATS can help you find the right candidates, or that someone has been past for a similar job.
