EHEC means Entero Haemorrhagic Escherichia Coli
The EHEC bacterium is a enterohaemorrhagic E. coli bacterium, and is a group of bacteria &eeuml; that are frequently occurring in the intestinal system of humans and mammals. Most of this group are innocent, but the EHEC bacterium can be dangerous and has already killed a number of deaths. An infection with EHEC can cause the failure of the kidneys and bleeding in the digestive tract. To prevent contamination, vegetable and fruit must be washed with running water, food must be boiled at least 10 minutes at a temperature of 70 degrees, and used knives and cutting boards must be washed immediately after use. A EHEC infection often begins with (slight) abdominal pain and diarrhea. Symptoms may include: nausea with vomiting, fever, abdominal cramps, diarrhea with blood. Some people don't suffer from it, with most people the diarrhea is after 4 days left, and in 2 to 7 percent of the infections get problems like kidney problems. Of this group dies 2 to 9 percent.
