What does PTSD mean?

PTSD means post-traumatic Stress disorder

PTSD is a severe form of anxiety that arises after a traumatic experience (situation where there is a life threat, (severe) bodily injury, or an impression on physical integrity). Also seeing such actions can lead to PTSD, so not only does it take the self to be the cause. Symptoms of PTSD include:

  • Reliving
  • Flashbacks
  • Nightmares
  • Stress by signals that remind of the trauma
  • Sleep disorders
  • Concentration problems
  • Violent scare reactions
  • Avoidance of conversations or activities that remind of the trauma
  • Anger eruptions

When these symptoms last longer than a moon, there is talk of PTSD. Not everyone gets PTSD after a traumatic experience, only if the normal processing process gets blocked. Some people are prone to violence, and sometimes the event is simply too overwhelming to handle normally. Read more about PTSD on this website.
