SNS means cooperating Dutch savings banks

The SNS (part of SNS Real) is a Dutch bank with approximately 2600 employees. The bank is one of the top 5 banks in the Netherlands. Since 1 February 2013, the Dutch state SNS Real and SNS Bank has nationalized. The bank has been in existence since 1817, when the first Dutch savings Bank was established as Nuts Savings Bank. A savings bank is a bank where individual citizens spent their money, that money was used again to provide mortgages.
