What is a polonaise?

A polonaise is a Polish dance

It is a dance that is based on the Polonez, and is a dance in which one can host in a ribbon in succession. Characteristic are the hands on the shoulders of the preceding person. During dancing the walk/hos direction can be reversed. The Polonaise is danced especially during carnival and at weddings. There is also a world record Polonaise: 1412 people who did on November 11, 2011 in Gemert de Polonaise.
