A Zamboni is a ijsdweil machine
The Zamboni is a registered trademark (of the inventor and developer of the Ijsdweil machine, Frank Zamboni). But in everyday life every type of Ijsdweil machine is referred to as Zamboni. An ice rink/ice floor wears through the use and becomes damaged, so there are holes and cracks in the ice. The ice is also dirty and rough. To keep the ice rink smooth again, the Zamboni is used. This scrapes a thin layer of ice off the runway, and then a little bit of hot water comes up. This water fills all holes and unevenness, making the ice rink smooth and fast again. Normally a mop break takes fifteen minutes.
