What is WD-40?

WD-40 is a volatile hydrocarbon connection

WD-40 WD means Water Dispersant (moisture displacement). The 40 comes from the fact that it was the 40th test formula of Norm Larson, the inventor of the product. Fans of WD-40 use it for anything: it removes rust, it's a lubricant, it's a contact spray, it's a cleaner and it's Corrosiepreventie spray. The exact composition is not known, but the formula itself has not changed for 50 years. It contains no water or silicones, no wax, graphite or other cancer agents materials.
