What does EOD mean?

EOD means explosives clearance service defense

The EOD is a (military) service that has the task to defuse and clean up explosives. In The Netherlands there are three different EOD's: of the Army, the Air Force and the Navy. The EOD deals with explosives on land and water, and there are also for the protection of broadcast Dutch units. A major task is the culling of explosives from the Second World War, but because of the increasing threat of terrorism, the demand for the services of the EOD has increased (think of suspicious parcels at Schiphol, or a busy shopping street). For the Dutch military there is a task for the EOD to detect and defuse the often joked explosives on patrol routes.
