A widget is an English word that doesn't really translate and that nowadays is also a normal Dutch word. It is sometimes called a gadget, and is a small piece of software that is visible on your dashboard. Widgets are used on normal desktop computers, but they are also becoming more and more common on tablets and smartphones. They are designed to improve ease of use and information. Many used widgets are a calendar widget to quickly view what your upcoming appointments are, or a weather widget, showers alarm widget, etc. In summary, a widget is a small, simple, graphical element that performs a simple and widely used function and can be enabled and disabled by the user to complement or make the existing interface more beautiful.
