What is a pandemic?

A pandemic is the outbreak of a disease that is globally active. The most recent and best known pandemic is the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 (it was officially declared a pandemic by the WHO on March 12.

Most of the time, a pandemic is at first classified as an epidemic (a quick spread of a disease in a region When it is spread in a wider region and it affects the world it is considered a pandemic.
