What does BFT mean?

BFT means agency financial supervision

The BFT is supervisor of the work of notaries, bailiffs and some other professions. As a supervisor, the BFT contributes to the integrity and legal certainty of the entire financial system in the Netherlands. The Ministry of Security & Justice and the Ministry of Finance has the responsibility for the BFT. The BFT oversees the finances of a notary and the quality and integrity. They shall verify that the funds entrusted to the notary are kept in a proper manner. In the case of a bailiff, the monies received from Accounts receivable are checked. The VFT may impose a fine or periodic penalty payment if it is found that a check does not adhere to the laws and regulations.
