DJ means disk jockey
Of course this Dutch meaning comes from the same English word: Disc Jockey. A DJ is the person who puts the plates on the turntable. There are two kinds of DJs: a radio DJ and a disco DJ. The radio DJ is mainly a talker who talks the plates together. A DJ running in the discotheques has a mixing console with which he adjusts the volumes and tones of the CDs per channel. Many well-known DJs make their own mix, or a remix of an old and well-known song. Many people see the profession DJ as a hobby, but a single person can make his profession.
