VLT means Very Large telescope
A VLT is actually brought together 4 individual telescopes: The Anty, the Kueyen, the Melipal and the Yepun telescope. The VLT is the flagship model of European astronomy and the most advanced optical instrument. By bringing the 4 telescopes together, astronomers can see up to 25 times more detail than when a single telescope is used. Here you can find a virtual tour of the VLT.
