What is BORSJTSJ?

BORSJTSJ is beetroot soup

BORSJTSJ is a groentensoep and is mainly eaten in the Slavic countries (especially in Russia, Poland and Ukraine). BORSJTSJ is made of beef broth with meat, onion and beetroot. There are several local variates with additional ingredients but these are the basic ingredients. In a plate with BORSJTSJ, a cloud cream is also always donated. Besides the different recipes there are also two basic forms: cold and warm (the warm variant is most eaten). The cold (and some sweeter) variant is in some countries ready-to-buy in the supermarket. It is not quite clear from which area the BORSJTSJ exactly comes, but most people say it comes from the Ukraine.
