A meze is a small bite that is eaten together with other mezedes. It is the Greek variant of Spanish tapas. Mezedes aim to increase and supplement the taste of the drink (usually Raki or ouzo). In addition it is also a way of being socially together, with what to drink and eat. In Greece it is normal to come together or go out and eat mezedes. Different dishes on the table, some drinks, talk and laughter. Mezedes can be anything: a dish with olives, diced feta cheese, stuffed wine leaves, tzatziki, calamari, etc.
