Wi-fi means Wireless Fidelity
Wi-Fi is a certification label for products that operate according to the International Standard (IEEE 802.11). A product may use the Wi-Fi logo as an independent certification agency can demonstrate that the Fuctionaliteiten and performance meet the right requirements. Products with the logo can collaborate with each other, regardless of the manufacturer of the product. The Wi-Fi Alliance does not support the use of the term Wireless Fidelity and advises the use of this. In practice everyone knows Wi-Fi as synonym of Wireless (home) network. Many offices and houses now have WiFi, also in shopping malls and in restaurants it is nowadays standard that it is a WiFi network available.
