Zytholoog means beer connoisseur
Zytholoog comes from the Greek words zythos (beer) and logos (study of). A zytholoog is someone who is engaged in tasting beer and being able to determine which beer is best suited to which food. A oploeding to Zytholoog can be followed in Belgium (a country with a rich and large beer history). During the training up to Zytholoog, one learns about the history of beer, but also about brewing beer. Just like a sommelier knows everything about wine, a zytholoog (the beer sommelier) also knows what type of beer best suits a dish.
